INSTALLATION DIFFICULTY CODE NUMBERS

Each Item in our catalog has been assigned a code number for difficulty of installation and a tools required code number.  These numbers are intended to help you decide if you are comfortable with undertaking the installation of a specific item or kit.

All of our products include all hardware needed for installation and instructions if any are needed.

Installation difficulty code numbers are assigned based on the following criteria:

0 - No installation needed, these items are ready to go out of the box, or require simple mounting without tools (such as peel and stick).

1 - Some minor installation required, may need basic tools such as screwdrivers or wrenches, no cutting or drilling required.

2 - May require some drilling or cutting, you may need to make some measurements to properly install parts.  Someone with a reasonable level of skill with basic tools should be able to get good results with a little care.

3 - Requires a fairly high level of skill to install, may require experience with somewhat specialized tools, may require some fitting and adjusting of parts to get a really nice installation.  If you aren't a do-it-yourselfer, you might think about getting help with these projects.

4 - Complex installation, very few of our accessories or kits are this difficult to install, although quite a few repair parts are.  If you aren't really comfortable measuring, cutting, and doing a little problem solving, you should consider hiring a professional for these projects

Tools needed code numbers are assigned based on the following criteria:

0 - No tools Needed

1 - Requires some basic tools and supplies such as screwdrivers, pliers, tape measure, and wrenches.  May also require marine grade sealant such as 3M 5200.

2 - May require somewhat more specialized tools such as drills, saws, straightedge, socket wrenches etc.  You shouldn't need anything the typical do-it-yourselfer wouldn't have.

3 - Likely to require at least one tool you may have to buy such as a pop rivet tool, nicopress crimping tool, carbide grit saw blade or a specific size hole saw, we try to list what specialized tools will be needed for each project so you can plan ahead and be ready.

4 - Requires specialized tools that only a professional or really serious do-it-yourselfer would be likely to have such as commercial style nicopress tool, fiberglassing tools, presses or pullers.
