La Perla Noir SAILING UPWIND IN ABOUT 14kTS WITHOUT WATER BALLAST

La Perla Noir (more commonly known as "The Pearl") made her public debut at the BWY Owners Club rendezvous in June of this year.  Since then we have been asked so many questions about her that we have decided to present this introduction to the boat in a question and answer interview style format.

The links below will take you to the individual pages for the topics listed, as well as to our early photo galleries.  More photos and updates on the progress of this project will be posted over time.  I hope you find this to be interesting and fun reading. Read on, Pirates!

What is La Perla Noir, and why did Blue Water Yachts want to build a boat like this?

How did this project come to be?

What are the changes you have made compared to a stock 26M?

Were all of the modifications done by Blue Water Yachts?

How much faster is the Pearl under sail than a stock boat?

How does the stability of the Pearl compare to a stock boat?

Do the changes you have made slow the boat down under power?

Will some of the concepts you are exploring with  the Pearl find their way into future MacGregor production boats?

Can a stock 26M be modified like the Pearl has been?

Will Blue Water Yachts be selling kits to make upgrades to stock boats?

Are you planning further modifications to the Pearl?

What future plans do you and Cheryl have for cruising and racing the Pearl?
